Making an appointment

We look forward to working with you and your family. To make an appointment at Eltham Paediatrics, simply follow these steps.

  1. See your GP for a referral to Eltham Paediatrics.

  2. Call us on 03 9437 0552 to make an appointment. Please have your referral ready.

  3. We will send you a confirmation email with detailed information about your child’s appointment. Please read this email carefully and complete and return all relevant forms and reports.

Why do I need a referral letter?
Consultation fees are eligible for a Medicare rebate if the patient has a valid referral from a GP. To ensure you receive the Medicare rebate, we encourage you to see your GP and obtain a referral before calling to make an appointment with Dr Ward.

Don’t have a referral letter?
If you do not have a referral, you can still make an appointment with us. We encourage you to obtain a referral from your GP as soon as possible. The referral must be dated no later than the day of your appointment at Eltham Paediatrics. If you do not obtain a referral before your appointment, you will not be able to claim the Medicare rebate.

Types of Referrals
Referrals are usually valid for 12 months. If your child has an ongoing issue, your GP may write an indefinite referral beyond 12 months.

Remember: If you do not have a valid referral, you will not be entitled to claim the Medicare rebate.
